is one of the few paintings Paul created with a woman as model.. Oh no, he doesn’t hate woman. It’s more that he likes to paint men! Why? First he is Gay, so he likes men. Second, and more the main reason, is that men show more muscles/ shapes than woman. In paintings from Paul you see sharp angles, what most of the woman don’t have. Now, not all men and woman are the same. There are also a lot of man who don’t have or show their muscles. And lots of woman with muscles! No, to be honest. I think it’s more whom you are attrackted to. Paul did draw hundreds of woman on Art-school, by lack of male models who wanted to show their ass. Also later and now it’s a bit more difficult to get male models who dare to show their naked body. That’s why Paul uses often photos, and of course his super model John.
Back to this Oilpainting “Floating Woman” In 2020 Paul and John moved from Malbosc, in the midle of nowhere, to Apt, a litlle village near Aix-en-Provence. There was a musicschool( !!!!) where they ones a week an evening organised with other artists and one model…most of the time a girl. It costed 5 euros! Two hours drawing/painting with sessions from 3 to 15 minutes. So quick sessions from 3 minutes and a few longer. It was more excercising than really making beautiful Artworks. It was also a bit like on Artschool. Some Artists were faboulous drawers, and some … were there just for having fun!
Fun to do.
They organised also once in a while a long session, in the same position for the model, on a saturday, from 10 o’clock to 1600 hrs. But…it was Covid time, and more than one year they couldn’t organise it. So, at the end of 2021 Paul and John got the idea to move to Spain, and Paul was more busy with the movement than with painting. Still there are a few drawing who Paul didn’t throw away. So, who knows? Maybe in the futere he’ll show them here….but it is a lot of woman. This painting is one of the Saterdays sessions, and finished later at home.
