Oilpainting “What’s Up” Artwear top print is one of our favorite Artworks wich we already used very often for our wearable Art collection. Why? Maybe because it’s one of the most tiny and simples Artworks from Paul Harmsen. No backgrounnd except an orange wall or floor. No clothes, what isn’t special for the Gay-Artworks of Paul. Just a nude man laing on the floor and looking back. And thaat’s the most important part of the painting. His look! “What’s up?” Paul could also called it “Don’t disturb me” or “F*ck up!” Sure his look is not happy! And that makes this tiny Oilpainting (It’s just 30 by 40 cm) so intriguing.Oilpainting “What’s Up”
Beautifull body, nice ass, kind of athletic corps, full head of jet black hair but his look is almost arrogant, hatefull and not likeable. So two differant sides of this man what makes him the perfect model for the series “Down under”, where this is one of the paintings of.
For a designer
like Paul, this was a challenge to make artwear prints of it. First started with the provocatif campagne “I love butts”, but that was a bit too much. No one wanted to walk with that quote and this ass on their belly. So Paul started to cultivate it, to make it more Gay-Art print than a provocatif homoerotical artwork. He mixed with more delicate colours, like black and champagne and used multiple “models” on one artwear. Now on X-Artwear the first items are still for sale, (so id you really dare to wear, don’t hesitate!)but we ourself like more the later designs of Paul.

but when does it stop?Â

We don’t know. Mixing this Oilpainting “What’s Up” print with other artwork of Paul is possible. Other backgrounds, or even parts of this Gay-artwork could become a new Artprint for Pauls Artwear. With a gay-designer like Paul you never now. And that’s what we like too. Not the ordinary but sometimes a bit differant, sometimes on the edge what can or can’t in the public eyes, sometimes a bit queer and even every now and than a bit more provocatif. Paul dares to design what you dare to wear! Art for Everybody!

if you dare to wear!
Dare to wear is the slogan we use the most for our Wearable Art here on X-Artwear for men. But do you really have to be a hero to wear these kind of Menswear? We don’t think so. It’s just a matter of showing the world that there is more than just a “rainbow T-shirt” to show the world what you like. yuo’re Gay, You like men…and you show it to the people around you. So, what?
